Qualcomm QCA9377 driver

Qualcomm lists the QCA9377 as a 1x1 802.11ac Wi-Fi and Bluetooth chip but does not offer a consumer Windows driver page that we could read. Get the driver from Windows Update and your laptop maker's support page, searching by model. Makers publish their own builds.

Step by step

  1. Check the name

Device Manager, Network adapters: Qualcomm Atheros QCA9377 Wireless Network Adapter. Hardware Ids: PCI\VEN_168C&DEV_0042.

  2. Run Windows Update

Open Optional updates and install any Qualcomm wireless driver listed.

  3. Open the laptop maker page

Search by model and look under Wireless LAN. The maker holds the build tested with your hardware.

  4. Pair the Bluetooth

The chip includes Bluetooth. Install the maker's Qualcomm Atheros Bluetooth driver if it is missing.

  5. Restart and test

Restart, reconnect and run a long download to see whether drops continue.

What the QCA9377 is

The QCA9377 is a combined Wi-Fi 5 and Bluetooth chip from Qualcomm Atheros. Qualcomm describes it as a 1x1 802.11ac device with a peak Wi-Fi speed of 433 Mbps and Bluetooth 5.0. It is a modest chip: one antenna stream, no 6 GHz and no Wi-Fi 6.

Three versions of one chip

Qualcomm’s datasheet lists the QCA9377 in three versions. The -3 uses SDIO, the -5 uses PCIe for Wi-Fi and USB for Bluetooth, and the -7 uses USB 2.0. A laptop card in an M.2 slot is the PCIe kind, which matches the PCI ID in the hardware list below.

Where to find a driver

Chip makers like Qualcomm sell to PC makers, and the product page speaks to them. Windows users should get the driver from Windows Update or the PC maker. If Wi-Fi vanishes after moving to Windows 11, check the maker for a newer file first, and roll back through Device Manager as the second step.

Questions

Does Qualcomm publish a driver for it?

The product page and datasheet cover the chip for device makers. We found no Windows installer for users.

Wi-Fi vanished on Windows 11.

Support threads report this on some laptops. Try Windows Update, then the maker's latest driver, then roll back.

What are the three versions?

Qualcomm's datasheet lists three: -3 with SDIO, -5 with PCIe for Wi-Fi and USB for Bluetooth, and -7 with USB.
