MediaTek MT7921 and MT7922 driver

MediaTek does not publish a Windows installer for its MT7921 or MT7922 Wi-Fi cards on its own site that we could find. The practical source is Windows Update first, then the support page of your laptop or motherboard maker, which supplies the build tested for your model.

Checked October 30, 2026 against the manufacturer's own pages.

Step by step

  1. Confirm the chip

Device Manager, Network adapters: entries like MediaTek Wi-Fi 6 MT7921 Wireless LAN Card. Hardware Ids start with PCI\VEN_14C3.

  2. Run Windows Update

Settings, Windows Update, Check for updates, then Advanced options and Optional updates. MediaTek drivers usually arrive here.

  3. Find your PC maker page

Enter the model or serial number at the laptop or board maker and open Wireless LAN or Networking.

  4. Look for a Bluetooth part

These cards pair Wi-Fi with Bluetooth. The maker lists the Bluetooth driver separately, so install both.

  5. Roll back if it breaks

If Wi-Fi fails after an update, open the adapter's Properties, Driver and select Roll Back Driver.

What these chips are

The MT7921 and MT7922 are MediaTek Wi-Fi 6 chips on a PCIe card, often together with Bluetooth. PC makers put them in laptops and some motherboards as an alternative to Intel cards. PCI listings give them the vendor code 14C3, which is how you tell them apart from Intel’s 8086 and Realtek’s 10EC.

Where the driver really comes from

MediaTek sells to PC makers rather than to end users, so the usual path is Windows Update or the maker’s package. MediaTek’s own page for older products points to product pages for drivers, and the MT7921 and MT7922 do not appear in that list. If a site offers a MediaTek installer outside the maker’s domain, skip it.

Fixing common faults

If the card disappears from Device Manager after a Windows update, restart twice and check Optional updates. If the maker’s driver is old and Wi-Fi drops, try the newest Windows Update version before anything else. Turn off any power saving option in the adapter’s Properties as a test only.

Questions

Is there a MediaTek driver download page?

MediaTek's legacy products page says drivers are on each product page, and it does not list the MT7921 or MT7922. We did not find a Windows download from MediaTek for them.

What is the difference between MT7921 and MT7922?

Both are PCIe Wi-Fi 6 chips. The MT7921K variant is listed as Wi-Fi 6E. Other PCI IDs for each chip are listed below.

Why does the same card have two IDs?

Module makers can use a different PCI device ID for the same silicon, so the lists show 7961 and 0608 for the MT7921, and 7922 and 0616 for the MT7922.
