Step by step
Identify the series
In Device Manager, Display adapters, read the Radeon name. The number tells the series: RX 9000, 7000, 6000 or 5000 use the main Adrenalin release. RX 500, 400 and Vega use a separate release.
Laptop or all-in-one: PC maker first
AMD recommends the maker's own driver for laptops and all-in-one PCs, because it carries their custom features. Check the maker's page for your model.
Use amd.com for a desktop card
Open AMD's drivers page, choose Graphics, then your series and exact card, and select Windows 11 64-bit.
Download and run
The file is about 1.78 GB. Run it as an administrator and follow the Adrenalin installer.
Downgrading? Use the cleanup tool
AMD recommends its AMD Cleanup Utility when you go back to an older Adrenalin version.
How AMD names its graphics driver
AMD calls the Windows graphics driver AMD Software: Adrenalin Edition. The package holds the display driver, the control app and some extras, and it replaces the older name Radeon Software. Version numbers now follow the year and month, so 26.10.1 means the first release of October 2026. AMD publishes a recommended release and, at times, an optional one after it.
What 26.10.1 supports
AMD’s notes for 26.10.1 list compatibility with Radeon RX 9000, 7000, 6000 and 5000 series cards, plus the Radeon PRO W7000, W6000 and W5000 families and a set of laptop chips. The release adds FSR Upscaling 4.1 for Radeon RX 6000 series cards and some Ryzen AI processors. It also fixes a stutter that appeared in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 on RX 6000 and newer cards. The notes list known issues too, among them a possible driver timeout in War Thunder on RX 5000 series cards, for which AMD suggests 26.9.1.
Chips and codes
The public PCI ID Repository ties each generation to a code: 7550 for the Navi 48 chip in the RX 9070 family, 744C for Navi 31 in the RX 7900 cards, 73BF for Navi 21 and 731F for Navi 10. Seeing VEN_1002 in the hardware ID tells you AMD made the part. A Ryzen PC with built-in Radeon graphics also shows VEN_1002, so check the name before you pick a card driver.
A Windows 10 note
The 26.10.1 notes warn that AMD Smart Access Memory may become disabled after installation on Windows 10 systems. If you rely on it, check the setting in the AMD software after the install.
Questions
Is 26.10.2 better than 26.10.1?
It is an optional release. Its notes list a fix for crashes when other overlays are opened with the Performance Metrics Overlay on, and a few game fixes. Use it if you hit those problems.
Does this driver cover my RX 580?
No. The 26.10.1 compatibility list starts at RX 5000. RX 400 and RX 500 cards use a separate Polaris and Vega release.
Will it work on a handheld PC?
AMD says Adrenalin does not include support for handheld gaming devices. Use the device maker's driver.
Are there two driver versions inside the package?
Yes. The release notes list two driver versions under Packaged Contents, both for Windows 10 and Windows 11. The installer picks what your card needs.
