Brother printer driver
Download the Brother printer driver from Brother's support site: search your model name, such as HL-L2350DW, select your Windows version, then choose the Full Driver & Software Package. A smaller download called Printer Driver is listed too, for when you only need to print.

Step by step
Read your model name
Brother model names begin with letters such as HL, MFC or DCP, followed by a code like L2350DW. If you are not sure, open How to identify your model name on Brother's downloads page and pick your product category.
See what Windows offers first
Go to Settings, Windows Update, Advanced options, Optional updates. If a Brother driver is listed under driver updates, install it and try printing before you download anything.
Open your model's downloads
Type the model name into the search box on support.brother.com. Brother may preselect your system. If not, choose the OS family, then the exact version, for example Windows 11, and click OK.
Get the Full Driver & Software Package
It sits at the top of the list. Accept the license agreement to start the download, double-click the file and follow the prompts. Brother adds a note on this entry for Windows 11 users, so read it before you install.
Repair a driver that will not work
Further down the same list, the Uninstall Tool removes Brother's driver so you can reinstall it through Windows Plug and Play. For a network printer that stopped responding, the Network Connection Repair Tool updates the machine's IP address in the driver.
What the full package installs
The Full Driver & Software Package is one file that holds every driver and program Brother offers for that machine. On a multifunction model that means the printer and scanner drivers plus Brother’s own software. Brother iPrint&Scan, its app for printing, scanning and workflows, is also listed as a separate download if you only want the app.
The downloads list also has a Firmware Update Tool. It sends new firmware to the printer from Brother’s server over the internet. That is not a driver, so only run it if a fix you need is in the firmware.
Choose the exact Windows version
Brother publishes separate lists for Windows 11, Windows 10 32-bit and Windows 10 64-bit, plus Windows Server. If the list looks wrong, check Settings, System, About and confirm your edition and system type, then switch the OS on the downloads page. A driver built for a different version may install but fail to print.
Office printers and many PCs
If you look after several Brother machines, the same downloads page lists BRAdmin Light and BRAdmin Professional 4. BRAdmin Light finds Brother machines on the network, shows their status and sets basic options such as the IP address. BRAdmin Professional 4 lets an administrator deploy and manage networked or USB Brother printers and scanners.
Questions
Full package or Printer Driver only?
Pick the full package if your machine scans, faxes or you want Brother's tools. Pick Printer Driver if you only print and want a smaller download. Brother labels it as including only the printer driver.
Is there a Brother driver for my Mac?
Brother lists a Full Software Package for recent macOS versions. For some laser models, such as the HL-L2350DW, Brother recommends adding the printer with AirPrint, which is built into macOS.
Will Brother update drivers for Windows 8?
No. Brother says it does not provide new or updated software for Windows versions that Microsoft no longer supports. Software released earlier for those versions can still be downloaded.
My USB Brother printer fails on Windows 11
Brother's download pages point to a Windows 11 update distributed by Microsoft in December 2021 that fixes this. Run Windows Update until no more updates are offered, then reconnect the cable.
