Acer drivers for your device

Get Acer drivers from Acer's Drivers and Manuals page: enter your serial number, SNID or part number, pick your Windows version and download the files listed for your device. On many Acer consumer PCs, Acer Care Center can check for software and driver updates and install them.

Step by step

  1. Start with Windows Update

Check for updates in Settings, Windows Update, and install what appears under Optional updates as well. That alone often sorts out a missing Acer driver.

  2. Find your serial number or SNID

Both are on the label under an Acer laptop. If the sticker is worn, use the serial number detection utility linked on Acer's Drivers and Manuals page. It runs on Windows only.

  3. Identify your device on Acer's site

Type the serial number, SNID or part number into the box on Drivers and Manuals. Acer then opens the support page for your exact device.

  4. Pick your OS and download

Choose your Windows version. Work through chipset, graphics, wireless and audio in that order, and restart after each installer that asks for it.

  5. Check for updates in Care Center

Open Acer Care Center and run its update check. It links your PC to Acer's support system and offers the driver and software updates Acer has approved for it.

Serial number, SNID or part number

Acer’s driver site accepts three different identifiers, which is unusual. The serial number is the long code unique to your device. The SNID is a separate number that Acer also ties to your unit. The part number, marked P/N, names the model and its configuration. Any of the three gets you to the right page, but the serial number or SNID removes all doubt about which parts are inside.

What changed in Care Center

Acer found weaknesses in the update system of Acer Care Center and Acer Control Center that could let someone tamper with update files. Acer then released a version with stronger checks on the software and driver updates it delivers, and the app now fetches that version automatically when it starts. To confirm you have it, open the information icon in Care Center and use Check for updates.

When Care Center is missing

Not every Acer PC has Care Center installed. If yours does not, go to your device’s page on Drivers and Manuals and look for it among the applications listed for your model, rather than searching other sites for a copy. If it is not offered, nothing is lost: the driver downloads on that same page do the job by hand.

Questions

What is an SNID?

It is a second ID number for your Acer device, printed on the label with the serial number. Acer's driver page accepts either one, so use whichever is easier to read.

Which Acer PCs can run Care Center?

Acer says Care Center can be installed on any Acer consumer PC made after 2014 that runs Windows 8.1 or later.

Is Acer Care Center safe to keep?

Acer fixed a flaw in its update check and pushed a patched version that downloads itself when the app starts. Keep the app current and it verifies updates before installing them.
