Set up a PS5 or PS4 controller
PlayStation lists Windows 10 (64-bit) and Windows 11 as supported for the PS5 DualSense, connected with a USB Type-C cable or Bluetooth. No separate driver is named. The free PlayStation Accessories app for Windows updates DualSense firmware. The PS4 DualShock 4 pairs the same way.

The short version

Step by step
Pick USB or Bluetooth
For a DualSense, plug in a USB Type-C cable. For Bluetooth, unplug the cable and make sure the player indicator is off.
Start pairing on the controller
DualSense: hold the create button, then hold the PS button until the light bar blinks. DualShock 4: hold SHARE, then PS, until the light bar flashes.
Select it in Windows
Turn on Bluetooth on the PC and choose the controller from the device list. The light bar blinks, then the player indicator lights up.
Install PlayStation Accessories
Download the app from playstation.com to update DualSense firmware and, for the Edge, edit profiles.
Use USB for haptics
PlayStation says haptic feedback on PC needs a USB connection and only works when the game supports it.
DualSense on Windows
PlayStation’s own page for PC pairing lists Windows 10 (64-bit) and Windows 11 and shows two ways in: a USB Type-C cable or Bluetooth. It does not mention a driver download. Windows treats the pad as a game controller, and the games or launchers do the rest.
Slots and switching
A DualSense stores up to four pairings. You can pick a slot by holding an action button with the PS button for over five seconds, or let it use the next free slot. If all slots are full, the one unused longest is replaced. Moving between PC and console means switching slots, or pairing again.
DualShock 4
For the PS4 pad, PlayStation describes a micro USB cable or the DualShock 4 USB wireless adaptor, plus Bluetooth by holding SHARE and PS. The Bluetooth limits above apply. For full features, use the cable.
Updating and IDs
The PlayStation Accessories app updates DualSense firmware, and for the Edge it edits stored profiles. Sony’s USB vendor ID is 054C, with separate product IDs for DualSense, DualSense Edge and the two DualShock 4 models.
