Get the Intel I219-V driver

The Intel I219-V is a built-in 1 Gigabit Ethernet chip, so the driver should come from the maker of your laptop, desktop or motherboard. Intel's Windows 11 Network Adapter Driver page lists the I219-V as supported. Its Windows 10 page does not list the I219 and points to the system maker.

Step by step

  1. Find the I219 variant

In Device Manager open Network adapters, then the Intel entry, Properties, Details, Hardware Ids. The number after DEV_ shows which I219 generation you have. I219-V and I219-LM are sold in many generations.

  2. Open your PC or board maker's page

Enter the exact model or serial number and open the LAN or Ethernet category. Download the newest Intel LAN driver offered there.

  3. Use Intel's Windows 11 file if the maker has none

On Windows 11, the Intel Network Adapter Driver page lists the I219-V. Unzip Wired_driver_31.3_x64.zip and run the setup file as administrator.

  4. Check the link speed

In Settings, Network and internet, Ethernet, confirm the link shows 1000 Mbps. Try another cable and another switch port if it shows less.

  5. Reset the Advanced options

Open the adapter's Properties, Advanced tab. Set Speed & Duplex to Auto Negotiation, then test again before changing other settings.

A chip that comes with the PC

The I219-V is Intel’s consumer 1 Gigabit Ethernet chip for mobile, desktop and embedded boards. Intel’s page shows it launched in the second quarter of 2015 under the old code name Jacksonville, with one port at 1GbE. Boards that use a later chipset carry later generations, which is why this one name matches dozens of device IDs in the public PCI ID list.

Which download fits

The word Windows in a file name matters here. Intel’s Windows 11 page names the I219-V and I219-LM in its supported list, version 31.3 dated October 16, 2026. Intel’s Windows 10 page of the same version does not name the I219 at all, and tells readers that built-in connections are supported by the computer or board maker. So a Windows 10 user should go straight to the maker, and a Windows 11 user can try the maker first and Intel’s file second.

Slow speed is usually settings or cabling

Intel’s article for I219-V gigabit complaints reports one clue: in Safe Mode the adapter passes 900 Mbps, while in normal mode it drops below 500. That points to software. Intel’s list covers interrupt moderation, offloading, Energy Efficient Ethernet, flow control, the cFosSpeed service and Windows auto tuning. Change one setting at a time and retest, so you know which one helped.

Questions

Why will Intel's Windows 10 file not install for me?

Intel's Windows 10 page does not list the I219 and says built-in connections are supported by the system or board maker. Use the maker's driver for a Windows 10 PC.

My I219-V never reaches gigabit speed.

Intel has an article for this. It lists a link not running at 1 Gbps, a slow switch, a bad cable, a generic driver, and settings such as interrupt moderation, offloading, Energy Efficient Ethernet and flow control.

What is the difference between I219-V and I219-LM?

Both are 1 Gigabit parts with their own device IDs. The LM is the business version with management features, the V is the consumer version.

Is it a card I can swap?

No. The I219 sits inside the chipset and board design, so it cannot be removed. Add a PCIe network card if the port fails.
